Robert Arthur ‘Bob’ Lane of Tewksbury, at 75, BPL and MBTA worker - Boston Herald
Mar 24, 2019He was 75.Born and raised in Dorchester, he was a graduate of Dorchester High School.He served in the Army National Guard.Mr. Lane began his working career at the Boston Public Library and later changed careers to bus driver. He retired as a dispatcher from the MBTA after 30 years of service.He was a member of AFL-CIO Carmen’s Union, Boston Local 589.He lived in Tewksbury since 1967 and was active at St. William’s Parish. Mr. Lane and his family hosted the weekly after-Mass coffee and doughnut socials every Sunday morning for more than 20 years.He served as a member of Fr. Coppen’s Council, Knights of Columbus in Tewksbury.Mr. Lane is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen (McCarthy); five sons, Timothy S. of Andover, John P. of Dracut, Matthew T. and Joseph A. of Tewksbury and Michael R. of Amherst, N.H.; seven daughters, Kathleen A. Goodwin of Andover, Judith M. Vasas, Mary E. and Ann M. Pare of Tewksbury, Jean L. Capizzi of Revere and Sandy J. of Dracut, Patricia A. Corsetti of Chelmsford, a sister, Mary Ann of Melrose; 16 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Visiting hours will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, March 25, at Tewksbury Funeral Home, 1 Dewey St., Tewksbury. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Tewksbury.Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
